This is a brief and very instructive, easily understood article on how slot machines are designed with regard to human behavior and reinforcement. It’s BRILLIANT how the games designers have put their talents together to literally seduce gamblers into spending more time at the machines, getting numerous “small wins” with the placement of symbols to give the impression that a “big win” was a mere “near miss” away, thus encouraging more time at the machine trying to get to that big win, being reinforced by small wins all the while feeding money (credits, preferably, as that separates the thought of real money to the gamer).
