Brought this point up forcefully, eloquently. It started about a decade ago with Purdue Pharma and their skilled marketing that “Pain is the 5th vital sign” and getting medical boards to buy into that crazy idea.
Doctors were told that failure to treat pain adequately was malpractice.
Now, a decade later, we have an opiate epidemic that is bigger, worse, than the AIDS epidemic at its height. The doctors are being blamed. Very skillful marketing indeed! How many folks need to die?
