The drug treatment industry has problems.  It DOES tend to take a “one size fits all” approach to what it offers.

Anybody who’s been in treatment knows that it’s difficult.  Therapists tell you all sorts of things that may or may not be valid, but if you don’t agree completely with them you are deemed non-compliant.

“Co-Morbid” (also-occurring) conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, a variety of other issues may also be going on.  These need treatment or at least recognition too!  I’ve seen many patients who self-treated themselves with alcohol as it was the only legal, easily obtainable without a prescription option.

Pneumonia is treated with antibiotics.  I’m a firm believer in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) of addiction.  Some folks are able to get better from pneumonia without antibiotics–but there may be scarring and other forms of lung damage left behind.  Why would the country with the best medical care in the world not give every patient a fighting chance at getting better?

Appalachian Wellness Center PLLC has protocols for all major forms of addiction; every substance and behavior can have medication assistance to help achieve recovery.  The patient needs to understand that they will be “recovering” for the rest of their life.

Medication does NOT cause recovery!  There is NO drug that can “cure” addiction; but there are select therapies & medications that can assist the process of recovery, ending the death spiral of addiction.

If you, or a loved one, suffers from the disease of addiction (yes, it’s a disease, nobody woke up one morning and “decided” to become an addict!), seek help; it’s available.  Ask the source of that help if they also treat the other issues that may be going on with the addiction.

You’re worth it!
